While popularizing the green travel and low-carbon life, the illegal parking of shared bikes has also cause a big trouble for urban residents. The problems occurred following the shared bikes can be settled by some technology methods to a certain extent. The high precision GNSS navigation and positioning technology is a key, through which the parking behavior and riding experience can be improved significantly.

The dual band high precision GNSS positioning module, widely used in bike sharing, can eliminate ionospheric delay deviation effectively. Currently, Allystar’s dual band high precision modules TAU1021/TAU1202 have been employed in the mainstream shared bikes, which support multi-system concurrent positioning, improving the positioning stability greatly. This series features high sensitivity, high fault tolerance rate, and low power consumption. Combined with high precision positioning technology, it may instantly and accurately achieve functions such as parking guidance, electronic fence (e-fence), riding settlement, reminder of no-parking zone, parking in specified area, etc.

With the increase of dual band positioning module performance and RTD/RTK cost efficiency, the positioning accuracy can be improved to decimeter, even to centimeter level. The location of bikes is mapped to the e-fence setting on the road to guide the riders parking in the right areas. Other than that, optimizing the parking order on roadside by technical means meets the requirements of business operation and traffic order management.

Positioning drift affects riders experience such as bike locating, returning bikes in specified area and standardized parking, which indirectly cause increased customer complaints and defection. Combining Allystar’s high precision GNSS module with e-fence technology, it further improves the accurate delineation and identification of parking area. The high precision GNSS positioning technology helps users to find bikes more conveniently, and manages users riding and parking. It also reduces the misjudgment rate of out-of-parking-zone and no parking zone, improving the user experience significantly.

Apart from that, positioning drift will cause inconvenience to operation and maintenance (O&M) staff of bike company as well, such as difficulty in finding lost bikes and repairing the brokedown in a timely manner. The high precision GNSS positioning technology can also significantly improve O&M staffs’ working efficiency in finding lost bikes, reducing the loss of company assets, and improve the users experience and bikes turnover rate through timely maintenance, helping to lift efficiency and reduce costs.

In addition, this positioning technology also enables the intelligent scheduling capability. With Allystar’s high precision GNSS modules embedded in shared bikes, the peak of riding in different locations at different times can be clearly perceived, to anticipate the riding demands in advance, and direct O&M staff to supplement and dispatch bikes in specific area.

Allystar’s high precision GNSS modules are highly integrated, which greatly reduces power consumption in a compact size with low cost, and improves stability through multi-system compatibility, enabling high precision positioning technology to be used on a large scale in the bike-sharing industry.

Not only being applied in shared bikes, Allystar’s high precision GNSS module is also put into use in a number of shared e-bikes, to promote the conformity of the new national standard - the shared e-bike industry specifications through various scenarios such as riding speed supervision, lithium battery monitor, security against theft, etc. In addition to Meituan Bike, DiDi Bike and Hello Bike, more and more shared mobility enterprises are joining the ranks of applying high precision navigation and positioning technology, which has become the "new standard configuration" of the sharing economy.
